Ripping off Customers
Careem – Taxi Booking App in Pakistan has now been started ripping off customers by charging them more then the estimated.
Careem – Taxi Booking App is a successful business in Pakistan and people are using their service on daily basis as they made a trust in between Careem & Customers which we believe that a necessary for making yourself as a successful business.
Careem came into existence in 2012 and is still operating in over than 100 cities in 14 countries. and the value of the company is $2 billion as of 2018. They operated well in the start and became 1 of the most reliable taxi service company in Pakistan. But what we have noticed, they have started now ripping off customer by charging them more than the estimated price shown in the app.
We got a news from 1 customer that once the estimated charges was showing and then he booked a cab as the fare kept in his mind. but later on when he dropped-off at his destination, the fare was more high than the estimated was shown in-app.
[bgyellow] Customer paid and moved on – the same thing repeated more than 10 times and then he noticed.. “Ah"…. [/bgyellowend]
What Customer Noticed ?
Customer has noticed that every time my charges are always over the expected price. what could be the reason?? Are they really ripping off customers ?
Customer went into his “My Rides" and then he started checking all the details of every ride, how and from where the price breakdown has started. so here is the proof which we have got by customer.
Waiting Charges was calculated against the customer even though they did not stop or did not ask driver/captain to wait before he starts the trip.
But still he got charged about PKR 218.92 and the peak factor is on the other side. this is a really ripping off customers as no one can think of it as no one have time to go into their rides and check for the trip detail.
Then What Happened ?
He went to the help through their help section by going “Report a Problem" and ask “I need help with charges on this ride" and then “There is a charge on my receipt I don't understand" . App will take you to there “Get Help" section with in the app and asked how do you want to contact

2 – Email
What he took was via “Email" and just typed in “Over Charged" and literally he got his money back with in 3 minutes and got an email with explaining that “We apologies and can see that driver press an arrived button earlier even though he want not there"
Yes of course he got his money back, but the main question is – They are ripping off customers. Who ask for the refund, he/she will get it otherwise forget it.
The other and interesting part is, you can get access of your rides 3 months ago so, if you are trying to get the refund you ca get from last 3 months, and the rest is gone.
An instruction to use Careem – taxi Service App
Make sure you have entered your correct location
Make sure driver press arrive as he is already there otherwise report a problem.
make sure, you check your receipt as its is your right to keep an eye on each and everything.
If you are having the same problem, please do the same steps and get your money back.
It does not mean that stop using Careem but we have to be careful so we can save us from the big hit.
